How does Health Coaching work?

I’m frequently asked what is health coaching and how does it work?

Simply put, a health coach is someone who works with you to reach your health, wellness, and lifestyle goals. At first glance that may sound a little silly because people think ‘ok so you’re going to help me get up early and go to the gym..?’ And the answer in part is yes, if that is one of your goals then that is what I’m going to help you with. I like to say that I develop personalized programs for helping you live an energized and passionate life. But what does that really look like? I can assure you I’m not up at 5am calling you to get out of bed. Instead, we’ll work together to figure out why you’re having trouble finding the motivation when your alarm goes off, and what we can shift around to surface the motivation? What habits can we impart so you’re ready to start your day with your best foot forward?

Don’t feel excluded if exercise isn’t top of mind. I translate this into all different areas of your life, be it food, exercise, sleep, or self-love to name a few. Each week, you leave our sessions with one or two tangible goals to focus on until we meet again and we discuss those goals in depth in our next meeting to see where you succeed and where you need extra support.

Noticing patterns that lead to unhealthy habits is difficult, and changing those patterns on your own requires more energy than a lot of us have to give. My goal is to open you up to some of these things and help you make the shifts that will make a difference.

The most important part of this process is knowing that it’s not all or nothing. You won’t be getting up at 5am every day for the rest of your life. You won’t be tied to a diet that restricts your favorite cookies, or a basket of french fries. This is about shifting your habits around so you are more in line with the life you want to head towards, and can enjoy things in life while still feeling great.
